Lisa and I went to LA for the weekend to catch Something Corporate play the last show of their reunion tour. I really liked these guys back in the early 2000s when they gained mild popularity. They had more of a cult following rather than mainstream success. I was totally psyched to be able to actually see them in person. We caught the show at Club Nokia, which was a nifty venue. It was very small and the atmosphere was most like watching a bunch of guys just jamming out in their garage.
We hit up the show and spent the night at a hotel right down the street. It was a great time for both of us!
Lisa and I caught the Phillies / Padres game the Friday night with Mark and Ryan. Padres lost, but we had fun anyway! Here are some pics:
I recently had the opportunity to take a VIP tour of several Navy Facilities. SOLUTE has recently joined the San Diego Military Advisory Council. As such, new members we asked to send representatives on a tour of several Navy installations. During the day I was greeted by the Southwest Regional Commander R. Admiral William French and learned quite a bit about how the Navy impacts the San Diego area. We then took a ride over to the North Island base to meet with the Commander of Naval Base Coronado.
From there we headed over to the Ship Docks to tour and have lunch on the USS Kidd. The Kidd is a guided missile destroyer and is a fairly recent and modern ship. I was quite impressed with the technology and the crew. We had a great lunch with the CO and XO and a tour of the Flight Deck. The boat can launch two Sea Hawk Helo’s. From there we headed over to the Damage Control Training facility where sailors get trained on everything from how to put out deck and structure fires to patching pipes and hull damage.
For the last stop we headed over to the Working Dog training facility where we met the dog and handlers that the Navy uses for everything bomb and drug detection to structure sweeping. All and all the red carpet was rolled out for us at every stop and the staff was very welcoming and informative. The quality of the people we met and the recognition of the job they due definitely makes me proud to be an American. Here are some pictures and video from the event:

Ok, finally. So a few weekends ago we did our (my) first tailgate for the Padres. We showed up around 1:30 and started grilling. Headed over to the game and were there til about 8:30pm. Great time. Here are a few pics:
Yikes, I actually have a list of things I have been meaning to Blog about. I have been so busy that I haven’t even had time to write a few sentences here or there. I will definitely get one or two quality entries out in the next day or so.
However for now, I would just like to say Happy 4th Wedding Anniversary to my wife Lisa!
