Tonight Lisa, I and 18 of our closest family and friends got together for the Padres vs Dodgers game. Tonight was special because Lisa’s Grand Dad was in from Scotland and is a Dodgers fan. Early in the season we had arrange to watch the game in a luxury suite in the Toyota Terrace. It was quite plush and a gret way to watch a game. Parking, food and drink was included. We had out own private room with couches, stadium seats, TVs and bathroom. The view of the field was pretty good too.
If that’s not good enough, I got randomly picked to be the guy that went down to guess the attendance of the game on the big screen during the 8th inning. I went, I won. The prize was a signed game used bat. Pretty awesome. Oh and the Pads won… a rare occasion these days. Great night.
Thanks to John and Sandy for making it possible.
Lisa and I went down to Petco for the Padres 2011 Home Opener against the Giants. We met up with Rob and some people for a pre-game tailgate. We went to the park and got our free t-shirts and watched the very tail end of a band playing in the park. We found our seats to watch some of the opening day fanfare. For the anthem they had the typical HUGE flag on the field presented by members of the Navy. There was an F-18 fly over at the end of the anthem.
As a special treat Trevor Hoffman ran out from the Bullpen to through out the first pitch and to signify his official return to the Padres family.
Beyond that the crowd was really amped up. The giants fans were out in force also, which gave to some great trash talking. All in all it was a great day. Padres won! Here are some pics:
Lisa, Rob and I headed down to Petco for the Padres Fan Fest. We are getting geared up for the season to start in a few weeks and were psyched to be at Petco on a great day. We took in some sights and got some autographs from some of the players. Here are a few picture from the day.
Lisa’s work bought several tickets to the Picnic Terrace at Petco Park as a company outing. Luckily spouses were also invited. It just so happened that Rob and I had planned a tailgate for that game. We all hooked up for a tailgate and then enjoyed the game, which we won at the very end.
The picnic terrace included all you could eat snacks, food, and desserts plus a rather unique view from behind the bullpen. We saw the entire pitching staff and Lisa was lucky enough to get a signature from Mike Adams. As an added bonus, we got free hats!
Well, its official… I am a Padres season ticket holder. For the first season I only got a 1/4 season pass. We’ll see how it goes and maybe the next year I will upgrade to a half. As a bonus to purchasing the season tickets I got three free Field Box Tickets for a game of my choice for this season. I picked the Giants Game on the 11th of September.
As part of his welcome, I figured it would be nice to take Cameron with us to the game. Since it was 9/11, they had special lag ceremony which I got a few pictures of. Padres won, and we went to get a Pads Sweatshirt for my birthday. Turns out it was Cameron’s first ever baseball game. Pads won, we had a good time:
As a season pass holder perk, Rob got invited to go to Petco Park before the Padre’s game to go down to the field for batting practice. We basically VIPs for the event, which was nice. A representative took us in the Sony Home Plate Club under the stadium and on to the field. We saw that whole line up take batting practice and then saw some of the Giants start warming up.
Rob, as always, had brought Yoda with him. There was a camera crew down there taping a teaser for the game intro and asked if they could barrow the Yoda for the spot. For those who don’t know, the Yoda is somewhat of a mascot for the Padre’s Bullpen. Rob was psyched. After batting practice we went and posed for a quick picture and then headed up to the Proper Pub to kill some time before the game. Yoda got feisty on the Bar and ordered a drink. Here are some pics.
Lisa and I caught the Phillies / Padres game the Friday night with Mark and Ryan. Padres lost, but we had fun anyway! Here are some pics:
Ok, finally. So a few weekends ago we did our (my) first tailgate for the Padres. We showed up around 1:30 and started grilling. Headed over to the game and were there til about 8:30pm. Great time. Here are a few pics:
So for those who don’t know, I have really gotten behind the San Diego Padres this season. Going to a game was one of the first things I did when I got here and I have been to quite a few since then. My company has season tickets and gives them to employee’s to use as an occasional perk. One of my co-workers got a pair for this past Wednesday but was unable to use them and gave them to Rob and I.
So Rob and I were already jazzed for the free game on Wednesday, when we got an invite from one of our vendors to join them for a customer appreciation event for which they had rented out a Tower luxury suite for the Tuesday night game. So basically we go to hob nob it in a private suite for the Tuesday night game, and then go to the Wednesday day game about 14 hours later. The suite included free dinner, drinks, and dessert, a great view, and some nice seats. It was pretty style’n.
Then for the Wednesday game we got to see a nice 13-3 blow out. Not to shabby either. Anyway, definitely the first time I have seen two MLB games in less than 14 hours. Here are a couple pictures of the suite and from the seats on wednesday.
They only thing better than seeing the Padre’s win this past Sunday, was seeing them win from sitting in the SOLUTE company seats for free. My company gave me two of their season tickets to go watch the game. Lisa and I went down to Petco Park sunday to see the Pad’s take on the Orioles. Although we had both been there before, we took the opportunity to get there early and poke around the park. It’s a pretty new and nice park and we just wanted to see what was there.
We took a look at the “Park in the Park” where we think we are going to have a picnic some time next month. If we do, I am sure we’ll post some pics. As an extra bonus, there happened to be a season pass holders meet and greet that day. Since we were traveling on season ticket passes we went to the session. We managed to score a couple Padre’s scarfs and some bobble heads… Nice!
So all an all, we got two really nice seats and a bunch of swag, and some time to explore for a total of $15 (parking). Oh and the 9-4 was not to shabby especially since we gave up those 4 runs in the 1st inning. As always, here are a few pics:
